Online workshop on “Career Clarity, Well-Being, and a good enough Time Management

This post was written by Dr. Francesca Vulcano (DSMZ) from the “Work & Health” Working Group.

The 2025 activities of the “Work & Health“ Working Group started with an online workshop on “Career Clarity, Well-Being, and a good enough Time Management”, and…it was a success! The workshop took place on April 16, and was led by Dr. Ulrike Schneeberg (https://deinemonster.de/), a professional certified coach and trainer specialized on improving (self-)leadership in research.

Dr. Schneeberg guided the participants through the difficulties of identifying personal principles and shaping their work and personal life toward them, while dealing with the challenges of an often too busy and frenetic life.

The workshop was organized in three parts. Initially, the participants were invited to recognize their values and ask themselves whether their profession fulfils them. Later, they were asked to constructively think about their life goals and how they could proactively harmonize their objectives with a satisfying work life. Finally, they were invited to identify their needs and consider how they could address them in their personal and professional lives.

The workshop was highly interactive and included several breakout sessions with rooms of two/three people, where the participants could exchange opinions, perspectives, and advice, and were encouraged to ask themselves questions that are often overlooked in everyday life. The opportunity to share different, but somewhat similar experiences facilitated the realization that a key to well-being is the ability to say no when necessary and set priorities.
